About Me: I am a high school junior from Chicago interested in studying neuroscience and screenwriting in college. I enjoy exploring both science and storytelling, and I am especially excited by opportunities that combine research, creativity, and communication.
I am actively involved in several STEM-focused organizations and clubs, including the International Youth Neuroscience Association (IYNA) and the Global Youth Science Journal (GYSJ), where I have taken on leadership roles. I am also a high school tutor with organizations such as Math Circles of Chicago and Teen Tutors.
Outside of academics, I have been involved in choir for many years and enjoy performing with youth vocal groups. I also love writing screenplays and analyzing comedy writing. I am a big fan of Seinfeld, and my favorite character is George Costanza because of how memorable and well-written his humor is.
Project/Research Interests: Given my interest in potentially pursuing neuroscience as a college major, I am especially interested in working on a project related to computational neuroscience. Math is one of my strongest subjects in school, and I enjoy applying quantitative thinking to practical, real-world problems. Research in computational neuroscience would allow me to explore the brain through mathematical models, statistical methods, and computational tools.
One possible area I am interested in is analyzing structural brain data, such as hippocampal volume or cortical thickness, in relation to cognitive or behavioral markers, such as sleep patterns, that may be passively collected through a smartphone app. I think this type of project would be exciting because it connects neuroscience, data analysis, and everyday behavior.
I am also interested in artificial intelligence and how it can be leveraged to advance biomedical research, including improving how researchers analyze complex biological and neurological data.
