About Me: My name is Pranay Kancharla, and I am an 11th‑grade student at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.  I am passionate about working on projects that apply computational methods to fields such as healthcare or finance. This career combines some of my passions like developing intriguing models and algorithms with problem-solving in order to create novel solutions to better the world.

Project/Research Interests: One scientific area that strongly interests me is computational pathology. I’m drawn to this field because it sits at the intersection of machine learning and medicine, where computational methods can be used to gain meaningful insights and support clinicians with diagnoses. In particular, I am interested in how models can be used to improve disease prognosis and reduce the workload placed upon pathologists. As new diseases continue to emerge all over the globe, I see computational pathology as a way to use emerging technologies to support pathologists by facilitating analysis and improvising consistency in patient diagnosis.
